ください and お願いします, This is sentence often use when you want to request something or service. Both are followed by Noun, it can be item or service or action you want to request. Their usage are the same, but the little bit different while using.
How and when to useください
It implies “give me” . It is familiar way when you want to request something from friend, peer, your family members…who has the lower social rank than you. It is do not often use for request service.
For example:
くださいください – Pls give menu
コーヒーください。/ Kōhī kudasai/ “Please give me coffee.”
Some special case you have to use ください instead of お願いします . When you want someone has action like: “wait”, “listen”, “arrive” , let use with てください/ te kudasai /
For example:
ちょっと待ってください /chotto mate kudasai / – Please, wait a moment
明日来てください。 / ashita kite kudasai / – Please come tomorrow
聴いてください /kii te kudasai / – Please listen
How and when to useお願いします
お願いします is more polite way to request something. You use it with the people you don’t know well, or with people has higher socail rank than you.
Especially it is only use to request service, a favor, or request to talk to someone on phone.
For example:
メニューお願いします / Menyu onegaishimasu/ – Can I get menu ? ( Literally : “ menu please”)
コーヒーお願いします 。/ Kōhī onegaishimasu / “Coffee please, or Can I have coffee?
A マンションまでお願いします / manshon made onegaishimasu / Pls take to A apartment
森本さんお願いします /mori san onegaishimasu / Can I speak to Mori ?
